1977 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
BIDDEFORD, MAINE ---Jason Marc Rochelo, 35, of Biddeford died at his home on Saturday, March 31, 2012.
He was born in Pittsfield, Mass. on January 3, 1977, son of Donald and Donna (Hess) Rochelo. He graduated from Saint Joseph High School in Pittsfield, earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Biology from Roger Williams University and was on the sailing team there. He worked and played at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, R.I. sailing as crew, racing 12 meter and classic Herreshoff yachts.
For three years he taught marine biology at Newfound Harbor Marine Institute in Big Pine Key, Florida.
He then received his master's degree in Science Education from University of Florida, Gainesville.
He went on to learn boat building and marine systems at The Landing School in Arundel, Maine, a two year program.
He was a member of the U.S. Sail and Power Squadron since 1994, on the Board of Directors of the Saco River Salmon Club and active, with his wife Megan, in The Nature Conservancy in the Biddeford area. He often called his parents to say, "I'm living my dream, Dad or Mom."
On July 1, 2006, he married his soul mate and best friend, Megan Davis in Pittsfield, Mass.
He worked as a marine technician for the last three years at Webhannet Marine in Wells, Maine.
During his childhood he excelled in Scouting attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. These years greatly formed him in character, leadership and love of the outdoors.
He loved life in all its forms, especially ocean life observing and studying it through scuba diving in Micronesia, Indonesia, the Great Barrier Reef, Florida and New England. He did everything he could to preserve the environment, preaching how all life is interlinked.
He loved learning and was constantly reading, studying science and working with his hands. Just recently he won first place in an art show in Biddeford, Maine by building and exact replica of a 12 ft. long skiff boat made from card board receiving national recognition.
Jason is survived by his loving wife of six years, Megan Rochelo of Biddeford, Maine; his parents, Donald and Donna Rochelo of Dalton, Mass.; one brother, Mark of Delray Beach, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Patricia Skelly, of Clinton, N.Y.; two sisters in-law, Nicole and Jone Davis of Eagle River, Wisconsin; several cousins, aunts, and many friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012 at St. Joseph Church in Pittsfield, Mass. at 7 p.m.
