1928 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Jeanette M. "Jean" Ringie, 86, of 176 Columbus Ave. Berkshiretown died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on August 5, 1928, in Hudson, N.Y. she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Rose Laurella Mastrangelo. A former resident on Ridgeway Avenue, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was employed for thirty-five years as a supervisor and operator by the former New England Telephone, NYNEX and ATT. She became at age eighteen, one of the youngest supervisors in the telephone company. She retired in 1989. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and St. Mary the Morning Star Church. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers- William Denver Chapter #12 where she served as a two time past president. Jean was very proud of the many charitable activities they sponsored in North Adams, Adams and Pittsfield including Christmas parties, Special Olympics and donations to local schools. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking and sewing. She was a member of the Pittsfield Senior Center where she ran the pitch league. She was also interested in the arts and Norman Rockwell art. She also was a volunteer with RSVP. She leaves her daughter, Patricia A. McGinnis of Lenox; two sons, Kevin R. Ringie and his wife, Collette, of East Granby, Conn., and Shaun Ringie of Vietnam; a sister, Phyllis Fuore of Lenox; and a brother, Silvio Mastrangelo and his wife, Nina of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren and two great -granddaughters. She also leaves several relatives in Hudson, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church celebrated by the Rev. William Murphy, pastor at Mother of Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Gt. Barrington and Housatonic. Burial will take place at a later date in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson, N.Y. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the Dery Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Jean may be made to the Berkshire V.N.A. in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
