Jeannette Sternlieb Obituary
Jeannette Sternlieb

1922-2013 LENOX Jeannette Sternlieb, 90, of Rolling Hills Condominiums, died Saturday, January 5, at Kimble Farms Nursing Center.

Born in New York City on January 26, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Rebecca Silverman, she earned a BA from City College of New York, and worked as a cost accountant.

Her husband, Harold Sternlieb, whom she married on January 6, 1945, died on January 2, 1975.

After relocating from New York to Lenox in 1980, she became involved with, and supported, many Berkshire County cultural organizations, and led a very active, satisfying life. Her thirty year experience as a valued usher at Tanglewood was a great source of pride. She was also an avid volunteer at Jacob's Pillow and the Berkshire Theater Festival. In addition, she enjoyed performances at Williamstown Theater Festival and The Barrington Stage. Over the years, Jeannette greatly cherished the wonderful company of her many loyal friends. She was always an extremely loving, compassionate, honest, and generous soul with an amazing sense of humor that continued right up until the very end. She will be forever missed by her family and by all those whose lives she touched.

She leaves a daughter, Amy, of Lenox, a son, Barry, and daughter-in-law, Maureen, of Richmond, and two granddaughters, Kirsten Sternlieb of West Harwich, and Kyla Sternlieb of Shelburne, Vt.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Burial took place on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, in New York City. Next summer, in Lenox, at a time to be determined, a memorial service will be held to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory will be gratefully accepted by The Sara's Smiles Foundation in care of Devanny-Condron Funeral Home, 40 Maplewood Avenue, Pittsfield, MA 01201. Please visit www.devanny-condron.com to leave messages of condolence for the family.
