1972 - 2015 FALMOUTH Jennifer L. James, 42, of Foreside Road, died Monday, April 20, 2015, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine. She was born in North Adams, MA, on June 20, 1972, a daughter of Gary R. James Sr. and Janice E. (Perry) Poirot. She grew up in the town of Florida, MA, and graduated from McCann Technical High School, class of 1990. Jennifer attended Greenfield Community College and received an Associate Degree in respiratory therapy from Berkshire Community College. She worked as a respiratory therapist at Southwest Vermont Medical Center, PenBay Medical Center, and Waldo County General Hospital. She continued her education in Massachusetts and North Carolina and became a licensed esthetician and cosmetologist. She owned and operated Suite 9 Skin Care Spa in Camden. Jen was a practitioner of healthy lifestyle and alternative medicine and served as an inspirational resource for her fellow friends with illness. She enjoyed outdoor activities including kayaking, striper fishing, and boating on Casco Bay. Jen was passionate about sea glass collecting and enjoyed making jewelry for her friends. She was especially fond of hiking at Wolf's Neck Park and Mackworth Island with her loyal companion, Zoey. Jennifer cofounded an online cancer support group that grew to include hundreds of members worldwide. She is survived by her mother, Janice E. Poirot of Clarksburg, MA; her father, Gary R. James Sr. of North Adams, a brother, Gary R. James, Jr. and wife, Laurie of Pownel, VT; her partner, Dr. Tracy Giles of Portland; two nieces, Leah and Kamryn James; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and Zoey. SERVICES: A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the North Adams First Baptist Church, 131 Main Street, North Adams, MA. Arrangements are by Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, South Portland, Maine.
