JoAnna Mary Trotter

1936-2014 PITTSFIELD JoAnna Mary Trotter, 77, of Pittsfield, died peacefully at Berkshire Medical Center on Tuesday, June 3, 014 surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Pittsfield on August 19, 1936, a daughter of the late Luigi and Adorna Fusini. A member of the Pittsfield High School class of 1954, JoAnna graduated from the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1957 receiving a Diploma of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, JoAnna held many positions throughout her nursing career serving others; initially at the former St. Luke's Hospital in Labor and Delivery and in other departments. She retired in 1997 after 10 years of service as the Director of Nursing Services at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. An active communicant of All Souls Church and later Sacred Heart, JoAnna was a long-standing member of the Ladies' Sodality, St. Anthony's Devotion and weekly Eucharistic Adoration. A pillar to both her immediate and extended family, JoAnna enjoyed annual events with her family: 4th of July picnics, vacations at the beach and holiday celebrations with her children and their families. With lifetime friends from her childhood, her neighborhood, nursing school, work, and church, she enjoyed bocce, bridge, hiking, golf, and traveling, among many other memories. She was the widow of Thomas H. Trotter who died on October 5, 1989. Survivors include her daughter, Linda M. Newell and her husband, William; her daughter, Sheila A. Lanciault and Keith Gent; and her son, Thomas G, Trotter and his wife, Elena. JoAnna was most proud of her eight grandchildren, Dominick and Michael Newell, Nicholas and Alyssa Lanciault, and Lauren, Emily, Ashley and Olivia Trotter. She also leaves two older brothers, Carlo Fusini of Windsor. Mass. and Paul Fusini and his wife, Gloria of Yarmouth Port, Mass., and several nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., PIttsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, June 5, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Luke's Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, Gerard Tillman Memorial Scholarship at Taconic High School, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home.
