Joanne Scarbo

1944 - 2012 ADAMS Joanne Scarbo, 68, of 33 North Summer St., died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born in Holyoke on March 14, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Stella Garsika Szydlo and attended schools in Holyoke. Her first place of employment was for the Totesie's Toy Co. in Holyoke, where she worked for many years. In 1967 she came to Adams with her husband and became employed at the former Waverly Fabrics in Adams until the company closed. She then retired and became a homemaker. Joanne was a communicant of the former Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crafts, was an excellent seamstress, and also loved to walk.

She is survived by her husband, H. Joe Scarbo Jr., whom she married on Aug. 13, 1966; two daughters, Penny Tarsa and her companion Rich Cwalinski and Brenda Iacuessa and her husband Mark, all of North Adams; one brother, Paul Szydlo of Holyoke; four grandchildren, Adam and Chelsea Tarsa, Katie and Amber Iacuessa, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one sister, Dolores Blaine.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Joanne will take place Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at 9 a.m. from the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Parish of Pope John Paul the Great in Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Adams Ambulance or the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association in care of the funeral home.
