John C. Carusotto 1932-2012 PITTSFIELD John C. Carusotto, 90, of 73 Cherry Street, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Lee on January 19, 1932, a son of Joseph and Gladys Loguidice Carusotto, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and a graduate of the Boston School of Art. Mr. Carusotto was the shoe repairman at the former J.J. Newberry store on North Street for many, many years, retiring in 1986. He then went to work at the former Chowder House Restaurant on Dalton Avenue in Pittsfield for 16 years. He looked forward to spending every holiday with his family at the home of his nephew, Tony Carusotto, in Richmond. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends at McDonald's in Coltsville He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as reading. Mr. Carusotto is survived by his companion of 42 years, Dorothy K. Bastow, with whom he resided; two brothers, Anthony F. Carusotto and his wife, Marilyn, of North Fort Myers, Florida, and Angelo C. Carusotto and his wife, Lillian, of Pittsfield; as well as ten nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Salvatore Carusotto. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for John C. Carusotto will be held Monday, March 12, at 12 Noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Carusotto may be made to the Boys and Girls Club in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
