John Cole Obituary
John William Cole

1930 - 2014 LENOX DALE John William Cole, 83, of Dalton, for many years a resident of Lenox Dale, died Wednesday at his home. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 3, 1930, the son of Richard and Elizabeth O'Brien Cole, he attended schools in Lenox and was a 1950 graduate of Lenox High School. Mr. Cole served in the Army during the Korean War. He was employed for thirty five years at Kimberly-Clark Corp. in Lee, retiring in 1991. Mr. Cole was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale and had been a member of the Lenox Dale Fire Company. He was also an accomplished woodworker and carpenter and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His wife, the former Shirley Ann Thibodeau, whom he married on May 10, 1958, at Notre Dame Church in Pittsfield, died Nov. 2, 2012. Mr. Cole is survived by four sons, Alan J. Cole of Lenox, Robert W. Cole of Becket, and Roger J. Cole of Lee, and Michael T. Cole and his wife, Shelly of Simsbury, Conn.; two daughters, Kathleen M. Townsend and Linda J. Carroll and her husband, Christopher, all of Lenox; five grandchildren, William and Joseph Carroll, Paula Davis, and Evan and Katharine Cole, and one brother, Richard J. Cole Sr. and his wife, Janet of Stuart, Fla. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Jesse E. Townsend and by brothers, Edward and Francis Cole. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Mr. John W. Cole of Dalton will be Saturday, Aug. 9, at 10 a.m. from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday TODAY from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
