John "Jack" Cooper

1937 - 2014 FLORIDA, MASS. John Melford "Jack" Cooper, longtime resident Florida, died on July 10, 2014, at his home in North Fort Myers, Fla. He was born June 8, 1937, in North Adams, a son of the late Joseph and Aileen (Peck) Cooper. He attended local schools. He was last employed for many years at Morrison Berkshire. He was earlier employed at James Hunter Machine, Unistress Corp., BW Construction and Peoples Market. Jack was a 20-year member of the Florida Fire Department and a member the National Guard.While a resident of the state of Florida, he was a member of the Chapel of Windmill Village. He loved camping, hunting and fishing, bowling, golf and horseshoes. He best enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Edna May Tatro, whom he married on Aug. 28, 1954. He also leaves four sons, John D. Cooper and his wife, Beverly, Douglas A Cooper and his wife, Diana, Bruce C. Cooper and his wife, Karen and Jay W. Cooper and his wife, Terri; three daughters, Linda M. Brule and her husband, Michael, Marianne Matteson and her husband, Brian, and Kelly Horn and her husband, John; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Cooper, and sisters and brothers in-law and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Brian Cooper; by a grandson, Charles Cooper; by a sister, Carolyn Briggs and by two brothers, Roger and Leonard Cooper. Anywhere and everywhere he went, he made a friend and he would help anyone. FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral service for Jack Cooper will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli- WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Clarksburg Cemetery, Clarksburg.
