John F. "Jack" Storie

1932-2015 PITTSFIELD John Francis "Jack" Storie, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 23 at Berkshire Medical Center with his beloved wife and children by his side. Jack was born in Pittsfield on Jan. 17, 1939, son of William R. and Kathryn Ringie Storie and was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1957-1960 in Army Security, 13 months of that time in South Korea. On Sept. 14, 1961, he married the love of his life, the former Judith E. Goswell, at St. Charles Church. Jack was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk in the Pittsfield post office for 30 years. Prior to that, he worked at the former Follwell's Greenhouse and Wheeler's Market. For many years, he also delivered 350 Berkshire Eagle newspapers throughout Richmond and West Pittsfield. Jack was an extremely generous, totally selfless man. He was crazy about his children and grandchildren and that love was reciprocated in their daily devotion during the two weeks he was in the hospital. He spent 49 years attending their baseball, football, softball, hockey, basketball, lacrosse and soccer games, and their swim, skiing and track/cross country meets. In his younger years, he enjoyed speed skating, bowling, and playing golf and cards. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Besides his wife, he leaves five children, Christopher J., Jeffrey A. (Deborah), and Matthew P. (Pamela) Storie, Katrina M. White, all of Pittsfield, and J. Conor Storie (Jill) of Salem; 9 grandchildren, Mitchell (Amanda), Meredith, Ryan, Caitlin, Kyle, Tyler, Michaela, Adam and Patrick; three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Sophia and Aaliyah; two brothers, William (June) of Auburn, and David (the late Kathleen) of Lanesborough; his special niece, Denise Petruzella, and her son, Caleb, and many other nieces and nephews. His sisters-in-law, Denise Grady, Leah Goswell and Michele Tremblay; his brothers-in-law, Richard F. Goswell and M. Wade Tremblay. He was predeceased by a sister, Joan K. Petruzella and a brother, Robert Storie. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Funeral for Mr. John F. "Jack" Storie will be Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at 10 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo II, Parochial Vicar. Full military honors will take place following the Liturgy. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery will be at a later date.
