John C. Filpi 1921-2012 PITTSFIELD Mr. John C. Filpi 90, of 18 Longfellow Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday February 17, 2012 at Hillcrest Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Pittsfield, on May 21, 1921 a son, of Remigio and Rosina (Gatto) Filpi. He attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School and Purdue University, and was a Veteran of World War II in the United States Army and served with the Infantry. He operated the Cash & Carry Electric Supply in Pittsfield for many years. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was a Third Degree member and past officer of the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Eugene F. Marshall Council 103. Survivors include his wife the former Grace Wilson and they were married on April 27, 1957. One Daughter, Enid Herd and her husband John of Canton Center, Conn., One Brother, Peter Filpi and his wife Gerri, of Arlington, Va., One Sister, Carmina Plantier and her husband Valmore of Orleans, Mass., Two Grandchildren, Michelle Herd and Alan Herd, nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by Two Brothers and One Sister, Carmen and Vincent Filpi, Madeline Stutz. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA. 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev, James K. Joyce, Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemecery. Calling Hours at the funeral home will be Monday, February 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Central Berkshire P.O. Box 2717 Pittsfield, MA. 01202
