John Prenguber Obituary
John R. Prenguber

1950-2013 John R. Prenguber, 63, of Mary Esther, Florida, passed away on August 7, 2013.

Born in North Adams, MA, on May 20, 1950, he was the son of John C. Prenguber and Therese M. (Richard) Prenguber. He moved to Pittsfield at a young age where he attended St. Mary's Elementary School and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1969. He graduated from Nichols College in 1973. John received his MBA while working for General Electric in Pittsfield and later went to work for Lockheed Martin where he was employed at the time of his death.

John leaves behind his beloved wife Janice Greene of Mary Esther FL, a son Nathan Prenguber, stepdaughters Beth and Sara Brewer, and stepson Mark Hartman. He also is survived by his sisters Marcia Prenguber of Goshen, IN, Cindy Prenguber of Narragansett, RI, a brother David Prenguber of Pittsfield, MA, and several nieces and nephews.

John was an avid runner, even after losing both legs to diabetes. He completed many races including the Boston and New York City marathons. John was a regular at the Annual 4th of July run in Pittsfield, returning from wherever his job had moved him. He was a member of the New England Pioneer Club in Pittsfield and active participant in many other running clubs in each city in which he lived. He was a participant in life - not a causal by-stander. He was passionate about spreading the word about diabetes and spent a great deal of time giving motivational speeches, especially to young people with the disease.
