John "Jack" Rolla Webster

1931- 2012 Jack was born in Old Fort, (Seneca County) Ohio, at home on May 21, 1931 to Rolla DeLance Webster and Irma Gehris Webster. He graduated from Wintersville (Ohio) High School, Miami of Ohio University and received a Degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

He and his wife, Jean Gilmore Webster were married July 25, 1953; and he served in the Navy (Lt, j.g) from 1955-58 at the Long Beach, Calif., Shipyards, and at the Navy Research Laboratory in Chesapeake Beach, Md.

Jack was employed for over 30 years by General Electric and worked at both the Syracuse, N.Y., and Pittsfield, facilities. Upon retirement, Jack and Jean became snowbirds arriving in Tucson in 1994, and moved their residence permanently to Tucson in 2000.

Jack is survived by his wife Jean, and their four children: Joellyn Webster Tuttle (Harry) of Skaneateles, N.Y.; John Rolla Webster II (Marta) Sahaurita, Ariz.; James Paul Webster (Amanda) Brisbane, Australia; and Jason Gilmore Webster (Laurie) in Adams; his seven grandchildren: James Tuttle (Kim), Alan Tuttle (Sarah), Evan Webster, India Webster, Ransom Webster, Asa Webster, and Abigail Webster; and three great-grandchildren: Rowan, Lily Rae, and Meredith Jo Tuttle.

Jack was a talented musician; he played trombone in dance bands and in the marching bands at both Miami and Purdue Universities. He and his wife were faithful church choir members; and passed their love of singing on to their children. A welcome bass voice, Jack sang in the St. Mark's United Methodist Chancel Choir along with his wife, Jean and son, John; until his health failed.
