John J. Zuber 1922-2012 PITTSFIELD John J. Zuber, 89, of Pittsfield, passed away May 16, 2012 at Berkshire Medical Center. John was born November 15, 1922 in Pittsfield; he was the son of Joseph and Anna Labcdcuk Zuber. He attended local schools, graduating from Pittsfield High Schools Vocational Class and then went on to graduate from the New York Institute of Photography. John worked for General Electric as a tool maker for 38 years retiring in 1985. Upon retiring, he went to work for Berkshire Precision Tool for 19 years retiring in March of 2007. John was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, hunting in the Berkshires, Maine and Canada. He was a member of the Massachusetts Sportsmen Council, Delegate for Berkshire County and a Life Member of Pittsfield Sportsmen's Club. Mr. Zuber received a lifetime achievement award as Sportsman Conservationist Environmentalist, Raymond L. Gibbons Award, Sportsman of the year award, Silvio O Conte Award, Inductee into the Sportsman Hall of Fame, Mass Sportsman Council - Presidents Award, Distinguished Service Award and 25 year member Pittsfield Sportsman's Club. He was a member of the St. Stephens Episcopal Church. John leaves his loving wife Priscilla J. Gebauer whom he married September 20, 1955, he also leaves his three sons Charles J. Zuber of Lenox, and his wife Sue, Robert J. Zuber of Lenox, and his wife Anne, and Peter J. Zuber of Pittsfield, and his wife Nancy, four Grandchildren, Daniel, Johanna, Timothy and James. He also leaves a brother Peter W. Zuber of Pittsfield and is predeceased by four brothers, Mike, Frank, Charlie, and Stanley and a sister Sophie. FUNERAL NOTICE: Requiem Eucharist Service for John J. Zuber will be Monday May 21, 2012 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Hanna Anderson officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Sunday May 20, 2012 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME 220 EAST STREET PITTSFIELD MA, from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Stephens Episcopal Church or Pittsfield Sportsman's Club through the Funeral Home.
