DAVENPORT, IOWA Joseph Frank Colombari, 61, died peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, Judy, who never left his side since his sudden illness, as well as four loving sons and their families. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Joe passed at 1a.m. Christmas morning in the comfort of his home. He was diagnosed with a renal tumor on December 8, 2015; he faced his illness with courage and the comfort of his devoted faith in our Lord. Joseph Frank Colombari was born December 6, 1954 in Pittsfield, MA, a son of Joseph Anthony and Pauline "Taffy" (Cimini) Colombari. On May 22, 1976 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Judy Jan Zwing-elstein, in Pittsfield, MA. They have been blessed with over 39-years of marriage. Joe started a career in the hospitality field, establishing a family restaurant on the East Coast. His entrepreneurial spirit and friendly demeanor then led him to run his own business in the beverage industry. He was president and CEO of Royale International, Davenport, Iowa. He was a tireless volunteer and devoted his life to serving others, whether in business, personal friendships, his parish life, or his loving family. He was a talented chef who found great joy in preparing meals for family, friends, and parish gatherings. Additionally, he was an active member of the church, served on the parish council, was a member of the parish Knights of Columbus, a founding member of the St. Paul Future Club, and numerous other charitable and business organizations. Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Judy; his four sons and their spouses, Andrew and Ferrie, Chris, Joe and Nikki, and Tony and Katie; three grandchildren, Sophia, Isabella, and Maximo; a brother and his wife, Paul and Sherry Colombari; and numerous nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Joe will be held at 10:30am Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 East Rusholme Street, Davenport; Rev. Anthony Herold will be the celebrant. The burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. The family will greet friends Tuesday, December 29th from 2 until 7pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be additional visitation Wednesday in the Gathering Space of the church from 9:30am until time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Paul Future Fund, or the of Greater Iowa.
