Joseph E. Thibodeau

1935 - 2016 Joseph Ernest Thibodeau, 80, of Hickory, North Carolina and former longtime resident of Pittsfield, Massachusetts passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his residence in North Carolina after a 15 year battle with cancer, with his wife, Cindy by his side. Born November 28, 1935 in Pittsfield, MA, he a son of the late Joseph Solomon Thibodeau and Flora Erbin Thibodeau. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dianne Bassett, and his brother, Lionel Thibodeau. After attending school in Pittsfield, MA, Joe entered the Air Force at the age of 17. First he served Honor Guard in San Antonio, TX, then deployed to Greenland and Iceland. In 1953, Joe mar ried the love of his life the former Lucinda Ferreira. Upon his discharge from service, Joe worked at Berkshire Gas for a time. Following that, he was hired at General Electric in Pittsfield, where he worked his way up to manager. After he transferred to Hickory, NC, he retired as a Unit Manager. Joe loved bowling, golfing, camping, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; two sons, Mark and his wife, Martha, and Craig and his wife, Kelly; a grandson, Derek and his fiancee, Lindsay Tatro; a great grandson, Brayden all of Pittsfield, MA. and his sister, Dolores Bartley of Carolina Beach, North Carolina. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pittsfield with a date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is handling local arrangements.
