1943 - 2015 GREAT BARRINGTON Judith E. Rahm, 71, a longtime resident of Division Street, more recently of Bernard Gibbons Drive passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. A native and lifelong resident, Judith was born April 27, 1943 in Pittsfield, MA, the daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor (Arnold) Tremblay. She attended the former Searles High School in Great Barrington. Growing up, Judy sang in the choir at The First Methodist Church in Housatonic. It was here that the organist, Edith Armstrong Rahm, introduced Judy to her son, C. Herbert "Herb" Rahm. The couple was married on March 1, 1959 in Hillsdale and were married for 44 years when Herb died on November 6, 2003. Judy was a communicant of the former St. James Church, now Grace Church Episcopal, in Gt. Barrington. Primarily a homemaker, Judy devoted her time to helping those around her. For several summers, Judy participated in the Fresh Air Fund Program hosting children from New York City for two weeks to stay with her family. She enjoyed working for Meals on Wheels and always made sure to set aside extra time to spend with those to whom she delivered meals. In the early 1970's she worked at the Deli at the former Shopwell Supermarket, now Price Chopper, in Great Barrington. She was an active and eager friend of "Bill's" for more than 26 years. She was a member of the Occidental Chapter Order of Eastern Star and was a member of the Shriners in Springfield. Judy is survived by her son, Herbert C. Rahm and wife, Doreen of Tampa, FL; two daughters, Deborah A. Wilander and husband, Paul of Southwick, MA and Melissa A. Cabaniol and husband, Brad Gerard of Housatonic. She also leaves her brother, Gary A. Zamberletti of CA, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Along with her husband Herb, she was also predeceased by her infant son, Michael S. Rahm in 1966. FUNERAL NOTICE: A service celebrating Judy's life will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 12p.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
