Karla Anita Hornyak

1942-2014 Karla Anita Hornyak, 71, of Pittsfield Road, died Sunday morning at Mount Carmel Health Care Center. Born in Chelsea, MA, January 27, 1942, the daughter of Carl and Jennie Zollo Iorio, she attended local schools and was a 1959 graduate of Revere High School. Mrs. Hornyak had been employed Dining Room Manager, Waitress, and Hostess at area restaurants including Cranwell Resort, the former Colonial Hilton, and the Coachlight Restaurant. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Lenox. She enjoyed knitting, crafts, cooking, and baking, especially Italian Cookies. One of her greatest joys was entertaining friends and family. Her husband, Stephen J. Hornyak, whom she married in the First Congregational Church of Lee in 1977, died in 2006. She is survived by her sons P.J. Yerrick and his wife Carolyn of Hudson Valley, PA, Mark Yerrick of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Kevin Yerrick of Pittsfield and Brian Yerrick of Lee, Michael Hornyak of Pittsfield, Joseph Hornyak of Peoria, Arizona, James Hornyak of Dalton, and Stephen Hornyak of Fountain, Colorado; and one daughter Michele Carusotto and her husband Joe of Pittsfield, and 16 grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Iorio and his wife Toni of Revere, and nieces, nephews & cousins and many, many friends. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Geraldine Iorio and Caroline Caporale. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 9 am from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in Karla's memory may be made to the Lenox Ambulance Squad in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.
