Katherine (Nan) Vacheron Obituary
Entered into eternal rest on August 10th, Nan was born in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Hiram Parmele and Margaret McSweeney. She graduated from St. Lawrence University and received a Masters degree in English from SUNY Cortland.

In 1959 she married Thomas Berle. They settled in Whitesboro, NY where they raised their children and where Nan was an Associate Professor of English at Mohawk Valley Community College. Tom died of cancer in 1980. In 1989 Nan married David Vacheron. They retired to the Berkshires where they enjoyed volunteer work at The Mount, the New Lebanon Library and Shakespeare & Co. Nan especially enjoyed her book group and the pool classes at Berkshire West Athletic Club with her "aqua buddies".

She is survived by her beloved husband David Vacheron and her loving children Laura (James) Passantino, Lisa (Joe) Maestas and Craig Berle and his fiance Sandra Gibbons, stepson Gregory Vacheron and by her grandchildren Erica and Kyle Mimken, Zachary and Camryn Berle, Joey Maestas and Sophia and Sam Vacheron. She was predeceased by her first husband Tom Berle and her granddaughter Stephanie Mimken.

Nan will be remembered for her love of nature, her kindness and consideration for others, and the many relationships she cherished with family and friends.

A celebration of Nan's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Community Hospice Foundation (Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208) or the Columbia Greene Humane Society.
