Kathleen Ann Burns

1951-2016 EAST GREENBUSH, NY Kathleen Ann Burns (Tyer), 64, of 10 Highland Drive in E. Greenbush, NY formerly of Lee, MA, died Friday, January 8th at the Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pittsfield on July 16, 1951 the daughter of William F. Tyer Jr. and Frances A. Tuohy Tyer. Kate was a 1969 graduate of Lee High School, graduated from the Registered Nursing program at St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and the College of St. Rose with a BA in Public Communication in 1987. Kate loved working in the field of nursing in Vermont, Minnesota, and New York State for over 40 years ending her career teaching as a clinical instructor in the LPN program at Quest Star 3, Capital District, NY. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandbabies. Kate will be remembered for her quick wit, fun stories and infectious smile. She leaves her husband, James P. Burns, whom she married June 22, 1972; her son, Matthew J. Burns of Troy, NY; her daughter, Jaime Daunais and her husband, Patrick of St. Albans, VT; her brothers: William F. Tyer lll and his wife, Samantha of Pittsfield, Thomas Tyer and his wife, Donna of Lee and James Tyer Sr. of Pittsfield; her sisters: Mary T. Kelly and her husband, Bob of Lee, Jane E. Tyer and her companion, Jim Patersal of Adams; three grandchildren: Alma K. Burns, Aiden M. and Tessa B. Daunais. She was predeceased by her brother, David Tyer. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Funeral for Kathleen will be held on Monday Jan.18th at 10:15a.m. from the Kelly Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Monday Jan.18th from 9a.m. until the time of the funeral. Friends wishing may make donations to the Visiting Nurse Association of Albany Inc. in care of the Kelly Funeral Home at 3 Main St. Lee, MA 01238.
