Kathryn Grandbois Obituary
Katherine Joan Bromback Grandbois

1930-2016 PLYMOUTH Katherine Joan Bromback Grandbois, 86, of Plymouth, Massachusetts, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth. Born on July 17, 1930 in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of John and Katherine (Haggerty) Bromback, both deceased. She was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph High School. She married Robert J. Grandbois Sr. on May 12, 1956 and they divorced. As a youth, Kathy enjoyed life on Bromback Street at the old homestead. She moved with her family to Lanesborough to the old Bradley farm and spent many summer days cooking and helping her mother. A devout Catholic, Kathy never missed mass and was alwa-ys ready to serve and volunteer. Kathy worked at the former Berkshire Woolen Mill. Kathy loved being a City of Pittsfield crossing guard and was employed at many other companies in town. After moving to Plymouth to be closer to her children, she took a job at the State of Massachusetts Comptrollers office in Boston. Always loving sports, she drove her children to every practice and game. In Boston, she developed a great love for sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Her love for her grandchildren was remarkable, as with her children she followed every activity and was always there. She treasured visits with her great-grandchildren. In Plymouth, she volunteered with Catholic charities, was a reading tutor, and always looked forward to going out with the Lunch Bunch. Kathy is survived by her daughter, Joan Hibbard of Wareham, Massachusetts, and son Robert (Peggy) Grandbois Jr. of Findlay, Ohio; four grandchildren, Maria (Chad) Glendinning of Ottawa, Canada; Valerie Perez (Micah) of Carver, Massachusetts; Tony Perez (Camron) of Whitman, Massachusetts; and Robert Grandbois III of Findlay, Ohio; and two great-grandchildren, Elena and Alex Glendinning. She is also survived by brothers Bernie (Betty dec.) Bromback, Jerome (Lee) Bromback; sister Mary Lou (Richard) DiNicola; and sisters-in law Claire Bromback, Elaine Mozden, Sandy Zarn, and Judy Perault, all of Pittsfield. She was also preceded in death by brothers John Brom-back and Paul Bromback.
