1949 - 2016 SHEFFIELD Kathryn "Kathy" Nourse, 67 of Sheffield, MA passed away suddenly on Monday June 6, 2016 after being stricken at home. Her final act was to give the gift of life through tissue donation. Born March 15, 1949 she was the daughter of Katharine Wilbur and Samuel Theofilos. She attended local schools, graduated from Mount Everett High School. On August 5, 1967 she married the love of her life, the late Francis B. Nourse Jr. and shared their life together until his passing in March of 2013. Kathy was a kind and giving person who was always there to lend a helping hand and volunteer with many local organizations. She was a longtime member of the Sheffield American Legion Post #340 Ladies Auxiliary as well as Wisdom Chapter #130 Order of The Eastern Star and a member of The Red Hat Society. Kathy most enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing cards, scrabble and bingo. One of her favorite hobbies was baking and making desserts for friends and family gatherings. She also enjoyed planting flowers and growing houseplants. Kathy is survived by her daughter Tammy Pipa and her husband Louis of Sheffield. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 15 th at 10:00 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by Rev. Jill Graham. Burial will follow at Sheffield Center Cemetery with a reception to follow at The Sheffield American Legion Post #340, North Main St. Sheffield. The family will receive friends on Tuesday June 14 th from 4:00pm 7:00pm at the funeral home in Great Barrington. The Wisdom Chapter#130 will hold the Order of Eastern Star service at 6:15pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to "The Friends of The Sheffield Senior Center" c/o FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
