1978 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Kelly Lee Babcock, 36, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsfield, December 29, 1978 the daughter of Wanda J. Lewis and Kenneth Babcock, she attended local schools and graduated in 1999 from Taconic High School. In her younger years, she was the winner of the D.A.R.E. Essay Report and presented the essay to the school. Following her presentation, the then State Senator, Jane Swift, started her speech with "This is the second time in so many months I have been upstaged by this young woman." At Crosby elementary, she received a standing ovation for her performance in the school talent show. In high school she was a member of the drama club and worked with Shakespeare & Company. She was employed for many years at her Mom and Dad's business, W.J. Blueprint as the "Greeter Extraordinaire." Previously, she was one of the last Candy Stripers at Berkshire Medical Center. In 1984, the Berkshire Health Systems had her picture featured on the front cover of their annual report. Kelly was a proud voter. When she was 10, she could be heard instructing her grandmother in the voting booth as to who she should vote for and why. She was proud to be a participant of the Take Back the Night Vigils, and volunteering for the United Cerebral Palsy Telethons. She enjoyed reading, playing UNO, Wheel of Fortune, being on her computer, NASCAR, but most of all, her dogs "her children". Besides her mother, Wanda J. Lewis and her father, Kenneth Babcock, she is survived by her DAD, Timothy Houghtlin, her grandmother, Frances Houghtlin of Pittsfield, her siblings, Nicole Babcock-Shartrand and her husband, Jeffery of Hinsdale, Derrick Babcock and his S.O., Allyson Dunham and their daughter, Brianna and his son, Wade of Pittsfield, Keith Babcock and his daughter Elizabeth of Cheshire, her adopted sister, Sandra Martinez and her S.O., Mauricio Fuentes and their children, Alyson and Alessandro of Las Vegas, NV, her adopted brother, Innocent Iddah and his daughter, Jayla of Pittsfield, several aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, Doctors, beloved Nurses, Therapist and her devoted team of personal care givers. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Saturday at 3:30p.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, with the Rev. William Furey, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Pittsfield Cemetery.
