Lambert "Mickey" McGinty

1935 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Mr. Lambert "Mickey" McGinty, 79, of 63 Calumet St., passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on April 15, 1935 the son of Edwin L. and Julia M. Lambert McGinty, he was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph High School and was also a 1956 graduate of St. Anselm College. Mr. McGinty worked for the Pittsfield Public Schools as an Accounting teacher at Pittsfield High School for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He had previously worked for the former Pittsfield National Bank for seven years and for General Electric in Quality Control. Mickey was an outdoorsman and avid hunter; he enjoyed hunting rabbits and raising Beagles. He was a member and past President of the Berkshire Beagle Club. He was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and a member of its Golden Eagles. He was recipient of the Berkshire County League of Sportsman Achievement Award. He enjoyed camping with his wife, Carol in the Adirondacks and, for many years, at Camp Overflow in Otis. Mr. McGinty was treasurer of the Credit Union of the Berkshires for 27 years. He was a longtime member of the Eugene F. Marshall, council 103, Knights of Columbus, rising up through the ranks including Bishop Conaty Fourth Degree Knight and Grand Knight. ,He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Mickey was also an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. McGinty is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Carol Nolli, whom he married in Mount Carmel Church on May 30, 1960. He is also survived by his three sons, Shaun McGinty and his wife, Holly of Westwood, MA, Christopher McGinty and his wife, Karen of Acton, MA and Matthew McGinty and his wife, Stefanie of Dedham, MA, seven grandchildren; Mari Masolini, Ryan McGinty, Lauren McGinty, Taylor McGinty, Cameron McGinty, AJ McGinty and Haley McGinty and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Maureen Yeager, JoAnn Heath and Mary Ellen Mack. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Lambert "Mickey" McGinty will be Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at 8 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Mickey's longtime friend, the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Saint Joseph or to Sacred Heart Church, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, in his memory.
