Laraine M. Higuera

1943-2012 DALTON Laraine M. Higuera, 69, of 45 Judith Drive, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 12, surrounded by her loving family.

Born April 11, 1943 to Charlotte and George Markey of Manchester, Vt., Laraine grew up the seventh of eight children. Her high school years were filled with dance, cheerleading, and a vibrant social life. After graduating 1961 from Burr and Burton Academy, she attended the Barbazon School of Modeling in New York City and then married her high school sweetheart, Vinny, in 1963. Together they raised five children.

Laraine's passions included dance, going to daily mass at St. Agnes, being a fan at countless athletic and artistic events, healing others with Reiki, going to lunch with friends, shopping for clothes, buying presents, talking on the phone, swimming in her pool, gardening, family holiday gatherings, and hosting parties for any occasion.

In addition to the pride she felt in her family, Laraine cherished her 23 years as nursery supervisor at the Helen Berube Teen Parent Program, where she made wonderful friends and offered support and a loving, safe environment for dozens of babies and young mothers.

Laraine is survived by her loving husband Vincent Higuera; three sons, Vincent and his wife Robyn Rosen, Scott and his wife Rosie, John and his wife Nancy Potvin; two daughters, Reina and her husband Howard "Jake" Eberwein, Christie and her husband Marouane Fattoumy; 14 grandchildren Nate, Elena, Courtney, Emi, Louis, Logan, Molly, Sam, Easton, Ellis, Eva, Piper, Oscar, and Vivian.
