Laureen C. Brazeau 1955 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Laureen C. Brazeau, 56, of 37 Longfellow Avenue, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at her home after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 30, 1955, a daughter of the late Ernest V. and Ellen "Nellie" Creed Gelinas, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1973 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1978 graduate of Fitchburg State College. Mrs. Brazeau had been employed as a mortgage officer for 15 years with Berkshire Bank and Greylock Federal Credit Union until ill health forced her to retire in 2009. She had also been employed as a realtor at Day Spring Realty. Mrs. Brazeau was a member of Hope Church in Lenox. She was a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. She had also volunteered with the Civitan golf tournaments for many years. She enjoyed singing, loved traveling, and taking care of her family. Mrs. Brazeau leaves her husband, David F. Brazeau, whom she married May 23, 1992. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, David F. Brazeau, Jr., and his wife, Heidi, of North Adams; four daughters, Jodie M. Pilot and her husband, James, of Clarksburg, Erica L. Brazeau of Bay Shore, Long Island, Heidi Rose Brazeau of Pittsfield, and Christina Marie Brazeau of Pittsfield; two brothers, Alfred G. Gelinas and his wife, Amy, of Dalton, and James "Chico" Gelinas and his wife, Kate, of Lanesborough; seven grand-children, Caleb, Joshua, Timothy, Faith, Molly, Jason, and Jackie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brazeau was pre-deceased by a brother, William "Geli" Gelinas, and by a sister, Rita Gessendorf. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Laureen C. Brazeau will be Monday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. at Hope Church, 259 Kemble Street, Lenox, with Pastor Doug Foss and Pastor Wes Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Laureen may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
