Leo N. Ouellette

1921 - 2015 DALTON Leo N. Ouellette, 93, of Sugar Hill Senior Living Community, died Saturday, Feb. 21, at Sugar Hill following a short illness. Born in Countess, Alberta, Canada, May 2, 1921, the son of the late Joseph A. and Alexina Duclos Ouellette, he came here as a young boy and was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A tool and die maker group leader, Mr. Ouellette was employed at General Electric for a total of 47 years, attending numerous G.E. professional courses during an 18 year period, and retiring Jan. 5, 1988. A 20 year member of the U.S. Naval Reserve, he served aboard destroyers during his career, retiring as a Chief in 1981. He attended St. Teresa's Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard landing craft in the South Pacific. Mr. Ouellette had donated over 40 gallons of blood to the Red Cross over the years. He is survived by his son, Leo E. Ouellette and his wife, Marlene, of Pittsfield; two daughters, Ina M. Parker and her husband, Bruce, of Little Elm, Texas, Barbara R. Beebe of Snyder, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude J. Maher of Edgewater, Colo.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ellen Fay Grady, whom he married on March 29, 1948 and who died January 6, 2003; and a grandson, Joshua K. Beebe, who died April 9, 2014. Family and friends will be received at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME on Friday, Feb. 27, from 2 - 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Red Cross or the Salvation Army in care of the funeral home.
