Leonard M. Bedard 1924 - 2012 ADAMS Leonard M. Bedard, 88, of Lee Road, South Deerfield, died Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2012, at the Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow. Born in Adams on Jan. 21, 1924, son of Nelson and Delia (Bechard) Bedard, he was educated in Cheshire and Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School. He worked in the family milk business, and then operated a used car dealership with his brother, Leo. In 1963, Leonard moved to South Deerfield where he established Pioneer Saab Volvo and Service which he successfully operated until his retirement in 1984. Since boyhood, he was fascinated with flight and eventually owned and flew his own airplanes. Leonard was a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks and the Polish-American Citizens Club in South Deerfield. Survivors include his wife, Rita S. Renaud; his daughter, Diane Bhattacharyya of South Deerfield; his son, Michael Bedard and his wife, Patricia, of South Hadley; grandson, Jay Bhattacharyya and his wife, Farrah; granddaughters, Caitlin and Vanessa Bedard; great-grandson, Jack; his sister, Harrietta Bator of Cape Coral, Fla.; several nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his brother, Leo, and by his sister, Rachel Ferguson. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in South Deerfield, followed by burial in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
