Leonard Rusek "Benny"

1949 -- 2012 Mr. Leonard C. "Benny" Rusek, 63, of Fort Myers, Fla., a native and longtime resident of Adams, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Adams on May 7, 1949, a son of Jessie (Kiczak) Rusek of Adams and the late Louis Rusek. He attended Adams schools, and graduated from C.H. McCann Technical Vocational High School in North Adams.

Mr. Rusek worked for Pfizer Corp. and Specialty Minerals in Adams for 20 years, until retiring. He then was a taxi driver for the Berkshire Eye Center in Adams for 2 years, until moving to Florida in 2004.

He had been a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams. He had served in the Massachusetts National Guard for several years, and was the Sealer of Weights and Measures for the Town of Adams for many years.

Besides his mother, Jessie Rusek, of Adams, he is survived by a son, Corey Rusek and his wife, Melissa, of Cheshire; a daughter, Stacey Healey and her husband, Brian, of Brainard, N.Y.; a brother, George Rusek and his wife, Sue, of Adams; a sister, Christine Rusek Weslowski of Cape Coral, Fla.; two nephews, Chad Rusek of Oregon and Bret Rusek of South Carolina; and a niece, Debbie Bigwood of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 22, at 12 Noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. Relatives and friends are invited.

Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to Mr. Rusek's family, for a charity to be designated at a later date, through the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
