Leonard A. Stolzberg 1927-2012 PITTSFIELD Mr. Leonard A. Stolzberg, age 85 of 36 Glory Dr., Pittsfield, died Wednesday May 23, 2012 at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility. He was born in Haverhill, Mass. on April 5, 1927 a son of the late Benjamin and Mollie Stolzberg. He attended Haverhill, Mass., schools and graduated from NashuaHigh School, Nashua, N.H., in 1945. He graduated from the Universityof New Hampshire in 1950 with a Bachelors of Arts degree; and also from the University of Massachusetts in 1962 with a Master of Business Administration. He moved to Pittsfield in 1955 and was employed by the General Electric Co., Ordnance Dept. for 35 years retiring in 1988. He was Veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy. He was a member and Past President of Temple Anshe Amunim, Past President of Berkshire Institute of Life Time Learning. He was a master gardener having his own apple orchard and vegetable garden known as Len's Frosty Acres. He was a member of the local Masons, a founding member of the Monday Mountain Boys, Founded the First Duplicate Bridge Group, and enjoyed Tennis and Travel. Survivors include his wife the former Judith Glickman and they were married on December 15, 1951. One Son, Jon Stolzberg and his partner Peter Holguin of Los Angeles, Calif. One Daughter, Suzanne Stolzberg of New York, N.Y. One Foster Daughter, Patricia Symonds-Powell and her daughter Tatiana Stewart of Brooklyn, N.Y. One Grandson, John Nathan Stolzberg-Schray and his Mother Diane Schray of St. Paul, Minn., He was predeceased by one son, Jeff Stolzberg. One of the apples of Len's eye was his grandson, John Nathan, whom he served as a mentor and loving grandfather. Len was also well loved as a kind and generous friend and active member of the community. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will take place Friday, May 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Temple Anshe Amunim, 26 Broad St., Pittsfield with Rabbi Joshua L. Breindel, Spiritual Leader, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery (Temple Amunim Section). A reception to honor Len's memory will be held at Temple Anshe Amunim following the Graveside Service. There are no calling hours. Shiva will be observed Monday May 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday May 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at 36 Glory Drive, Pittsfield, Ma.
