Leonilda Codogni 1919-2012 WILLIAMSTOWN Leonilda (Nilda) Codogni, 92, of Williamstown passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 2, 2012. Born in Readsboro, Vt. on July 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Attilio and Rose (Gottardi) Franceschetti. She married the late Joseph Codogni on October 12, 1940. He predeceased her on October 19, 1974. When first married she resided in Readsboro, Vt. and moved to Monroe Bridge where she lived until 1998 when she moved to Williamstown. She was a longtime communicant of St. Joachim's Church and a member of the St. Anne Society in Readsboro. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ines and Ermida and a brother, Reno Franceschetti. Nilda loved her family deeply and through example she instilled strength, independence and confidence for her children. She spent a lifetime of caring for family. She was an avid New York Yankee baseball fan, enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved playing cards with friends. She leaves a sister, Rose, of Williamstown; three daughters, Judith Codogni of Williamstown, Denise Richardello and her husband, Michael, of North Adams, and Jo-Ann Eldred and her husband , Larry, of Staunton, Va.; a grandson, Ryan Eldred and great-granddaughter, Kailua, both from Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation for Leonilda Codogni will be Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's of Hungary in North Adams followed by a funeral mass at 9 a.m. A burial and mass will take place in Readsboro, Vt. in the spring.
