Leopold "Leo" O. Gingras

1929 - 2016 PITTSFIELD Mr. Leopold "Leo" O. Gingras, 86, formerly of Peck's Rd., passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on July 11, 1929 the son of Leopold J. and Emerentiene Roberge Gingras, he attended schools in Pittsfield. Mr. Gingras worked for General Electric in Pittsfield as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Group Leader for 43 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the GE Pensioners and Quarter Century Club, a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society, a life member of the Pittsfield Sportsman's Club, a member of the NRA, a member of the Gun Owners Action League (GOAL) and a Licensed Refrigeration Contractor. Mr. Gingras was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. Leo was predeceased by his wife, the former Patricia Hoffman, whom he married on October 21, 1950 in St. Mark's Church. She passed away on May 18, 2007. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Michael Gingras (Dona Gingras) of Pittsfield, Stephen Gingras (Carol Gingras) and Robert Gingras (Kathleen Gingras) of Lanesborough and Christine Gingras (James Maroni) of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren, Amanda and Matthew Gingras, Brian and David Gingras, Nicole Hadsell, Tanya and Michelle Gingras and Brady and Alex Maroni; nine great-grandchildren, Lilly and Parker Lacasse, Ian and Kooper Hadsell, Alivia and Hunter Gingras, AJ Steele and Lindsay and Brendan Wincek and one great-great grandchild, Jackson Steele. He was predeceased by his sister, Jacqueline Kennedy who passed away in 2009. He also leaves his longtime friend, Jeanne Mosca. Leo will be truly missed by his loving family and will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Leopold "Leo" O. Gingras will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 9 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10a.m. at St. Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
