Lew Rubin

Lew Rubin of Lexington and Nantucket, Mass., passed away on July 15, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Lew leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Rose, and four children; Sydney, Kate, Adam, and Emily. He also leaves seven grandchildren. He was a loving father and grandfather, always available for stories, games and listening.

Lew was born in North Adams, on February 24, l932. He served in the US Army following his graduation from Cornell University. He went on to earn a Phd in Physics from Northeastern University. Lew was an avid runner, a self-taught intrepid sailor. His boat, SATORI, was launched every spring with the joyful anticipation of sailing in Nantucket Harbor all summer.

Lew founded SKAE ASSOCIATES. He was considered an icon in the electro-optics industry. Colleagues and competitors knew him as an exceptional scientist who brought integrity and insight to his work. He will be remembered as a warm-hearted, friendly, modest, funny and sensitive man who impacted all whose lives he entered with his compassion, honesty and kindness.
