Linda Hermanski Obituary
Linda M. Hermanski

1958-2014 Linda Marie MacTavish Hermanski was suddenly called home into the Divine Mercy of our Lord on Friday, January 17, 2014, at 3:00pm at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, after incomprehensible complications from a routine medical procedure. Linda was born on July 24, 1958 in Adams, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joan E. MacTavish and the late Robert "Donald" MacTavish. She attended Hoosac Valley High School and McCann Technical School and happily spent her early years in the workforce among dear friends at North Adams Hoosac Savings Bank. Linda married her beloved husband Daniel J. Hermanski, Sr. on June 18, 1983. Linda was a devoted mother, who was incredibly proud of her three children, Jennifer S. Hermanski, of Arlington, Massachusetts, Captain Daniel J. Hermanski, Jr., USAF, currently stationed at RAF Lakenheath, England, and Kathryn C. Hermanski, who is currently completing her final year in nursing school at UMASS Dartmouth. First a homemaker, Linda later spent many years in various support positions with the Pittsfield Public School Department. Above all, Linda was a member of the Universal Catholic Church and found her place as a leader in many parishes throughout Berkshire County, from her earliest years as a lector at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Adams to her most recent position as Co-Director of Religious Education at St. Joseph Parish in Pittsfield. Linda was the heart and the home of her family, whether they were taking adventures to New York City, or visiting at home on the couch, "just looking at each other." She found peace in naturethe ocean, gardening, and animals, especially her treasured birds. She spent many hours reading or sewing her needlepoint and loved anything miniature, particularly dollhouses. All who met her were touched by her humor, her insight, and her strength. In addition to her husband and her children, Linda leaves behind many to maintain her legacy here on Earth, including a precious daughter-in-law, Sharlene A. Hermanski and a grandchild, expected in June; two sisters, Kathleen Babeu and husband, Mark of Adams; Susan Schneider and her husband, Kelly Murch, also of Adams; brother-in law, Paul Hermanski and his wife, Gerry of Pittsfield; five dear nieces and nephews; and innumerable friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: The family asks you to join us as we say farewell to our irreplaceable wife, mother, sister, and friend with a wake to be held at St. Joseph Parish, 414 North Street in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Friday January 24, 2014, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, and a Liturgy of Christian Burial also at St. Joseph on Saturday, January 25 at 9:00am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Linda's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project (Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675, in memory of Linda M. Hermanski), a Veteran's service organization that honors and empowers America's wounded warriors, or to the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation-Denise Kaley Fund (800 North Main Street, PO Box 400 Sheffield, MA 01257-0400), which supports the day-to-day needs of women with cancer. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements.
