Liya Berlin 1931 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Liya (Mizikovsky) Berlin, 80, of 38 Pomeroy Ave., Apt. A, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born in Odessa, Ukraine, on Oct. 5, 1931, the daughter of Yamshey and Luba (Shissel) Mizikovsky. Mrs. Berlin attended schools in the Ukraine. She was employed as a nurse for 40 years in Odessa. She moved Pittsfield in 1994. Mrs. Berlin was a member of Knesset Israel Synagogue. She was a beautiful woman who had a great sense of humor, loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her husband, Semyon Berlin, died May 3, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Inna Saltanovich, and her husband, Boris, and one granddaughter, Julia Saltanovich, all of Pittsfield. Mrs. Berlin also leaves two sisters, Berta Mizikovsky of Brookline, and Etya Mizikovsky and her husband, Boris Berlin, of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE: A graveside service for Liya Berlin will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the Knesset Israel Cemetery, Pecks Road, with Rabbi David Weiner, Spiritual Leader of Knesset Israel Synagogue, officiating. Shiva will be observed at the home of Boris and Inna Saltanovich, 8 Andover Street, Pittsfield, on Thursday, July 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, July 6, from 1 to 4 p.m. FLYNN AND DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm Street, has been entrusted with arrangements.
