Louis W. John

PITTSFIELD Mr. Louis W. John, age 67 , of 35 Bernard Ave., died suddenly Saturday, Nov. 15th.He was born in New Haven, Conn., the son of the late Henry A. and Barbara Clarke John. He was educated in the local schools and was a 1965 graduate of Daniel Hand High School in Madison, Conn. A United States. Army veteran of the Viet Nam War, he began his service to our country as a member of the U.S. Army in 1967. Prior to leaving for his tour of duty, he married his high school sweetheart, Rose, in the summer of 1967. Upon his discharge in 1971, he returned to Madison where he was employed as a security guard at the Hammonasset Beach State Park prior to moving to Lee with his family in 1980. He then became employed at the former Meade Paper Co. in Lee for several years. Continuing his education, he became a licensed plumber and was employed by Joe Tracy Plumbing Co. in Lenox, Mass., He retired from there after 20 years of service. Continuing to serve others, he chose to become employed with HomeInStead Senior Care as a home health aide. A position he held at the time of his death. A foster parent to five children, he and his wife continued to make a difference for special needs of young people. Twice Post Commander of the V.F.W. in Madison, Conn., he coached Little League and was an avid fan of the San Francisco Baseball Giants and the Buffalo Bills Football team. An outgoing and friendly person, he enjoyed going out to dance with his wife of 47 years on many evenings. In addition to his wife, the former Rose Kleinkauf, whom he married May 6, 1967, he is survived by his son, David W. John and his wife, Leslie, of Brandon, Vt., and his daughter, Barbara M. John of Pittsfield; his brother, Douglas H. John and his wife, Regina, of Madison, Conn.; and his nine grandchildren, Justin, Crystal and Desiree King, Michael, Tricia, Nicholas, Meghan, Ava and Allison John. FUNERAL NOTICE: Memorial services with full military rights will be held Saturday, Nov. 22 at the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Rennie, retired pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either HomeInStead Senior Care or to Healing Homes Foster Care, both in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME which is in charge of arrangements.
