Lydia V. Gerard

1923-2014 Lydia V. Gerard 91, of Park St., Housatonic, died Saturday April 26, 2014 at home with her loving daughter Suzanne by her side. She was born in West Stockbridge on January 23, 1923 daughter of William and Blanche Collato Zorzanello. Lydia graduated from the former Williams High School class of 1941. She proudly served her country during World War II with the U.S. Army. She worked as a cook for Monument Mountain Regional High School for 12 years before retiring in 1985. Lydia was a communicant of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Corpus Christi Church. Lydia's husband Francis "Ginger" E. Gerard whom she married in West Stockbridge on October 16, 1947 predeceased her on February 11, 2001. Lydia leaves one son, Joseph F. Gerard and his wife Cheryl of Mendham N.J., one daughter, Suzanne F. Sylvester of Great Barrington, four grandchildren, Stephanie Sylvester, Michael Gerard, Kristine Hawthorne and Laura Goldstein, five great grandchildren and her beloved cat Sarah. Lydia was also predeceased by her brother Joseph Zorzanello and her sister Theresa Zorzanello. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Mass for Lydia V. Gerard who died April 26 will be held on Friday May 2, at 10:00 AM at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Corpus Christi Church, Main Street Housatonic with Reverend William P. Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. In keeping with Lydia's wishes there are no calling hours.
