1930 - 2013 PITTSFIELD M. Joan Tierney, 82, formerly of Denise Avenue, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on June 26, 1930, a daughter of Edward J. and Katherine Drennan Tierney, she was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

She was a homemaker. At one time, she had, worked as a realtor on Cape Cod.

Ms. Tierney was a communicant of St. Mark Church and Sacred Heart Church, and was very generous to Christian charities.

Ms. Tierney, who was proud of her Irish heritage, loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and looked forward to Scrabble games with her favorite nephew, Keith. She enjoyed baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and entertaining. In her younger years, she also enjoyed playing the piano.

Ms. Tierney is survived by her daughter, Susan M. Quadrozzi, and her companion, Robert Sawyer, of Meredith, N.H.; three sons, Mark E. Quadrozzi and his companion, Michelle Mechta, of Pittsfield, Michael D. Quadrozzi and his fiancee, Diane Hebert of Pittsfield, and Paul S. Quadrozzi and his companion, Lisa Heinricher of Foxboro; two brothers, Edward Tierney, Jr., and his wife, Mary Lou, of Yarmouth Port, and Philip Tierney and his wife, Anne, of Pittsfield; a sister, Karen Vollinger and her husband, Robert, of Hickory, N.C.; nine grandchildren, Kaylin Chouquette, Lauren Patrick, Casey Colbath, Jamie Quadrozzi, Jenna Quadrozzi, Kevin Quadrozzi, and Kiley, Kassidy, and Delaney Quadrozzi, and three great-grandchildren, Carter, Troy, and Rylee.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for M. Joan Tierney will be Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, prior to the service from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Dery Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
