Mabel W. Grunwald 1924-2012 DALTON Mabel (May) W. Grunwald, 87, died Saturday March 31, 2012 at Craneville at Dalton. She was born in Exeter, N.H., to the late Edward and Mabel (Murphy) Rinfret on September 11, 1924. She attended schools in Exeter, N.H., and was a graduate of Robinson Female Seminary. After graduation, she became a telephone operator for AT&T in New Hampshire. In 1947 May and her husband Robert moved to Pittsfield. She enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time taking care of her family and grandchildren. Her loves also included attending to her flowers, reading, writing, walking and cooking. May was a wonderful story teller, a spirit filled singer and had a smile and laugh that filled those around her with joy. She had a gift of making people feel special and loved. "Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly....". She was predeceased by her husband Robert of 63 years in June of 2008. She is survived by her sons Brian Grunwald and his wife Eileen of Pittsfield and William Grunwald and his wife Charlene of Fairborn, Ohio; her sister Gail Clark and her husband Larry of Santa Cruz, Calif. May will also be missed by her cherished grandchildren, Heidi Grunwald of Housatonic; William Grunwald Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Enon, Ohio. She was predeceased by her grandson Robert Grunwald in December 2009, and her brothers Richard and Merrill Rinfret. Devanny-Condron Funeral home is in charge of the arrangement and all services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
