Madeleine "Maddy" Boyer

1924 - 2015 WILLIAMSTOWN Madeleine Florence "Maddy" Boyer, 90, passed away on March 10, 2015 at the Williamstown Commons where she was lovingly cared for. She was born in Williamstown on Nov. 27, Thanksgiving Day in 1924 to Hector Boyer and Cecelia (Reopell) Boyer. Madeleine was the last survivor of six children. She was educated in the Williamstown Public Schools during the Great Depression. She worked at the Gaevert Company, Sprague Electric and at General Cable as a secretary until it ceased operations. She was a longtime member of the Saints Patrick and Raphael Parish family where she helped with the Fall Festival at the candy table and her penuche was very sought after; and was often found at morning Mass. She loved auctions and she collected tea cups, hot chocolate, pots and fine china. She also had an extensive doll collection who resided with her in her charming apartment in the family homestead. Maddy was a beloved part of her family circle and she lovingly nurtured her many nieces and nephews over the years. They are Francis Boyer and his sister, Rosalie Richard and Claire Kristensen; John Mazza and his sisters, Carole Kalisz, Jean Kochman and Judith Mellyn; Linda King and Elizabeth Chesbro; Ellen McGowan and her sister, Maureen Roosa; and Paul, David, Robert and Kale Boyer. She is also survived by her dear friend and sister-in-law, Eileen Boyer and many cousins including, Larrie Ann Noyes, her friend and neighbor. Maddy, an expert in violet and pussywillow picking, and baking the "best" chocolate chip cookies ever, will be sadly missed. Her siblings who predeceased her are: Doris Mazza of North Adams; Bernard and Donald Boyer, Gertrude McGowan and Blanche Young all of Williamstown. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Nick Kristensen and her nieces, Kathleen (McGowan) Raymond and Joan (Boyer) Braman.
