Margaret A. Dutcher Sawyer

1950-2013 GREAT BARRINGTON Margaret A. Dietter Dutcher Sawyer, 63, of State Road, passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning, October 3, 2013. Born February 2, 1950 in Ancramdale, New York she was the daughter of Frederick and Mary Shaughnasey Dietter. She was raised in Hudson, N.Y., and was a graduate of Hudson High, class of 1968. Margaret was a longtime employee of Becton Dickinson in Canaan, Conn., retiring after 35 years. She was a member of the ladies "Red Hat" Society and loved spending time on her computer. She also enjoyed knitting. Margaret is survived by her husband Gerald Sawyer. The couple would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on October 22nd. She is also survived by her son, Raymond Dutcher and his wife Tonya of Hilmer, Calif.; along with their daughter, Pheobe Violet Dutcher; her brother, Roy Dietter and his wife Diana of Widefield, Colo.; stepsons, Robert Sawyer of Great Barrington and John Sawyer of South Lee; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Brianna and Austin Sawyer and Jennifer Favors. She was predeceased by two brothers. FUNERAL NOTICE A service celebrating the life of the late Margaret A. Sawyer will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, conducted by Rev. Charles VanAusdall. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Great Barrington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory may be made to either the Berkshire Humane Society or the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, Mass. 01230.
