1932 - 2015 PITTSFIELD Margaret E. Burdick, 83, of 137 Broadview Terrace died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on February 3, 1932 in North Adams, she was the daughter of the late Rosario and Rosina Critelli Scarfone. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in North Adams schools and was a 1949 graduate of Drury High School. She also attended the former State Teachers College in North Adams and the Grace Downs Fashion and Modeling School. She married her first husband, the late Bentley D. LeBarron in 1957. He died in 1975. Mrs. Burdick was employed as a nurse's aide for over twenty years at Berkshire Medical Center and at the Berkshire Medical Center Dental Clinic. She retired in 1996. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a longtime volunteer at B.M.C. and at St. Mark Church. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Charles and St. Mark Church. Very devoted in her faith, she was a member of the Folk Choir at St. Mark Church and St. Martha's Choir at the former St. Teresa Church and a member of the Rosary Society and Prayer Hotline at St. Mark Church. She had also served as a past president and vice-president for the Lady of Fatima. She enjoyed spending time with her family, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping, bowling, and traveling. She leaves her husband, Donald W. Burdick, of Pittsfield whom she married on July 11, 1980 at St. Mark Church; a son, Del B. LeBarron and his wife, Ann, of LaPlata, Md.; a step-son, Scott L. Burdick and his wife, Debra, of Channahon, Ill.; a step-daughter, Barbara J. Hancock and her husband, Keith, of Deerfield, Mass.; her brother, Leonardo Scarfone and his wife, Carol, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and eight grandchildren, Jeanette LeBarron, Sarah LeBarron, Bentley LeBarron, Mindy Shiekh, Daniel Burdick, Amanda Burdick, Matthew Arnold and Alicia Hancock. She also leaves her great-grandson, Gavin Shiekh; and her beloved caregiver, Kim Stegner, of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by a brother, the late Saverio Scarfone; and by a sister, the late Mary Palmer. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Margaret may be made to Covenant House or to Edmundite Missions both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
