Margaret M. "Peg" Bonney

1916 - 2014 DALTON Margaret Mary "Peg" (Coffey) Bonney, 98, of Hampden passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at her home in Hampden. Peg was born on Mar. 24, 1916 in South Deerfield, to Patrick and Mary (Morrissey) Coffey. Peg grew up in South Deerfield, moving to Hadley, Northampton and Worthington before moving to Dalton when she married Howard W. Bonney. Peg graduated in 1934 from Northampton High School and took a job at GE in Pittsfield. In the 1950's Peg worked at The Crane Inn in Dalton where she managed the salad bar, and later The Adams's Supermarket in Pittsfield. Upon her retirement in the mid 1970's, she and Howard moved to Hampden Village in Westfield. In 1996 they moved to Hampden. Peg was a long time member of the Chic Mates Square Dance Club in Chicopee and The First Congregational Church of Dalton MA. She was also a former member of the Eastern Star in Dalton. Peg was predeceased by her husband, Howard, in 2001 and an infant daughter in 1941. She was also predeceased by brothers and sisters, William, Raymond, Richard, David and Donald Coffey and Marjorie Cristman and Esther Babiak. Her very close friend, Raymond Bolas predeceased her in 2009. She is survived by her three children, Joan Shea (Michael) of Hampden, David (Eva) Bonney of Becket and Barbara (John) Dupuis of Dalton also nine grandchildren, Michael III, Kevin, and Tim Shea, Paul and Keith Dupuis, William Bonney, Shannon Perusse, Kara Levardi, Jesse Bonney and several great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Ella Coffey, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Peg also leaves a close friend Marilyn Willard of East Longmeadow. Her family wishes to thank Beacon Hospice and O'Connell Care at Home for their kind and compassionate care shown to Peg in her time of need. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Peg will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 3 to 6 p.m. at HAFEY FUNERAL HOME, 494 Belmont Ave., Springfield. Burial will take place on Friday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. in Main Street Cemetery, Dalton Mass.
