Marguerite Cross

1922 - 2015 ADAMS Marguerite Loretta (Kleiner) Cross, known to many as Nita or Aunt Nita, died on Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 after living with Alzheimer's Dementia for the past few years. She was a woman who demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout all of her life, including living on her own (with some help) until the last month. Marguerite was a sage giver of advice, an avowed worrier, a voracious reader of romance novels (having read many thousands of them), and a lover of her family. Until recently, she loved playing Bingo with her friends and neighbors at 4 Columbia Street, and she found watching golf on TV to be quite relaxing. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Adams, where she served on the women's guild and in the coffee hour ministry, and she was, most recently, a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. She worked for many years at Sprague Electric in North Adams until her retirement in 1986. Mrs. Cross was born in Adams, the daughter of Emil and Sarah (Sprague) Kleiner. She was predeceased in 1986 by her husband, Harrison R. Cross Sr., whom she married on July 9, 1945. She is survived by her four children, Harrison R. Cross, Jr. and his wife, Angela, of Lakewood, Ohio, Beverly Ripa and her husband, Anthony, of Bristol, CT., Barbara Worthington and her husband, Keith, of Clarksburg, and Sharon Wood of Adams. She is also survived by two siblings, Reginald (Buddy) Kleiner of Springfield and Lily Kuzia of Clarksburg. She was a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren, including: Andrew, Brian, and Tim Cross, Julie (Cross) Perez, Preston and Eric Blay, Shane and Aaron Worthington, and Nicholas Wood. She had 11 great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ralph, George, and Robert Kleiner, and by four sisters, Ethel Brown, Evelyn Ciempa, Rachel Ashton, and Ruth Syrus.
