Marie "Buddy" Girard LaFountain

1928-2013 PITTSFIELD Marie "Buddy" (Girard) LaFountain, 84 of 27 Backman Ave., Pittsfield, formerly of North Adams, passed away Wednesday January 23, 2013 at Berkshire Medical Center.

She was born in North Adams, on May 22, 1928 a daughter of the late David John Girard and Catherine (Drennan) Girard.

Buddy was last employed at Steinerfilm in Williamstown, until her retirement in 1999. Before that, she was employed at Mohawk Motors for several years.

She is a communicant of St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield. Her greatest love in life was spending time with her family, taking bus trips, and traveling the world. Buddy lived her life to the fullest.

Survivors include her loving daughter - Pam Smith and her husband, Ernie of Richmond. Three devoted grandchildren; Shelley Leighton and her husband, Kevin of Pittsfield; Carla Romano Roy and her husband, Geoffrey of Pittsfield; Nolan Sullivan and his wife Melanie of Adams. Six great-grandchildren; Nicole Leighton, Nathaniel Leighton, Lucas Roy, Derek Roy, Gavin Sullivan, and Paden Shartrand. Four step grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren. She also leaves one sister; Barbara Letalien of North Adams, and three nephews - Jeff Letalien, Arthur Palmer, and Steven Palmer.

She was pre-deceased by one brother; Thomas Girard,

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Marie "Buddy" LaFountain will be Monday January 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm Street, Pittsfield, MA followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Church. Burial will be in the spring in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday evening from 3 to 6 p.m.
