Marilyn L. Barry
1923-2014 PITTSFIELD Our mother, Marilyn L. Barry, was born to William P. Burns and Lillian Blowe Burns on Dec. 23, 1930, in Pittsfield. At age 16, she graduated from high school as class valedictorian and graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College at age 20. She worked as an engineer for General Electric until she married. On May 1, 1954, Marilyn married William T. Barry and became an instant mother to three young children. Bill and Marilyn were married for 49 years until his death in 2003. Marilyn leaves behind nine children, Regina Kavanagh, Maryelise Balch, Christopher Barry and his wife, Mary, Maureen Souza and her husband, Robert, Judy Franks and her husband, Jim, Patricia Hayes and her husband, Bill, Robert Barry, Suzann Laur and her husband, Dan, and David Barry and his wife, Kris. She also leaves behind 28 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Our mother was a special lady with a kind heart and endless patience. She instilled a love of reading and learning in her children and grandchildren. She will be very missed. FUNERAL NOTICE: Rosary will be on Tuesday, May 20 at 10 a.m., with funeral Mass to follow at Our Lady of the Valley, Hemet, Calif. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local library or literacy program in Marilyn's name.
