Marion A. Mullett

1929 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Marion A. Lapp Mullett, born on Dec. 22, 1929, went to join her husband, Lawrence (Lorenzo) Mullett, Sr., and adored son, Paul A. Mullett, Sr., on May 8, 2013.

Marion was born in Stephentown, N.Y., daughter of Anna Gauer Lapp and Vernon J. Lapp. She attended schools in Stephentown and Berlin, N.Y. The family moved to Pittsfield when she was 13, and she attended the former Tucker School and St. Joseph High School.

She worked at Rice Silk Mill and the Nascon Division of the former Eaton Paper Company. She also worked for an answering service, the former Berkshire Ambulance Company, and was the detailer of sports uniforms for Pittsfield Sporting Goods for a number of years.

She was a member of the Civil Defense.

Marion and Lawrence were married on Feb. 26, 1949. Lawrence passed away Feb. 15, 2001, after 51 years of marriage. Her son, Paul, Sr., age 48, passed away Jan. 17, 2002, of Lou Gehrig's disease.

She leaves four sons, Lawrence A. Mullett, Jr., and his wife, Colleen Hunter-Mullett of Dalton, William Mullett, and his wife, Bonnie, Barry Mullett, Scott Mullett and his wife, Judy, of Pittsfield; one daughter, Mary Melanson, and her husband, Paul, of Savoy, and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Mullet of Pittsfield. She will be missed by her 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, and she will be sadly missed by her beloved companion dog, Penny.

She was also predeceased by one daughter, Elizabeth, who was three days old; by a son who died at birth, and a grandson in October 1975; by her sister, Verna Ziemlak, and by three brothers, Francis, Harold, and Donald Lapp.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Marion A. Mullett will be today, Friday, May 10, from 4 to 7 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Marion and Paul Mullett, Sr., may be made to the A.L.S. Organization at St. Peter's Hospital Loan Closet in Albany, or to the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
