PITTSFIELD- Mrs. Marjorie M. (Harrington) Dunn, age 87, passed away Saturday, May 12th at the Berkshire Medical Center after a brief illness.

Marjorie was born in Erie, PA on November 8, 1930, the only child of the late Philip and Elsie Banghart Harrington. She moved to Pittsfield as a child, and was educated in the local schools. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, and then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree in education from Bridgewater State College. She later earned her Master's Degree in Education from the former North Adams State College in 1955.

Mrs. Dunn began her teaching career at the Allendale School, having left to raise her five children. As her children got older, she began working as a substitute teacher in the Pittsfield Public School System. She taught at all grades of elementary school for many years.

Marjorie was incredibly talented with sewing, and she always had a special place in her heart for the children in her life. She will be remembered for the many holiday parties she threw for her children and grandchildren, especially at Halloween time.

Mrs. Dunn was very fond of travelling, particularly the many family trips to Florida, and she was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Marjorie was an active woman all throughout her life, and was proud to have never let go of her strong will and independence.

She married her husband, Mr. Robert F. Dunn on February 19, 1955. They had been married for 49 years before his death on October 8, 2004.

Mrs. Dunn is survived by her five children, Deborah Mizia and her husband Jefferey of Pittsfield, Lauren Paro and her husband Todd of Hinsdale, Robert Dunn and his wife Melanie of FL, Marjorie Carty of Pittsfield, and Jeffrey Dunn of Worcester. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, Kaitlin, Sarah & Matthew Mizia, Christopher Paro, Robert Jr. & Marc Dunn, Ryan & Quinn Carty, and Jeffrey Jr. & Katrina Dunn, and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Dunn's family wishes to thank the outstanding staff at Berkshire Medical Center for the compassion they showed while taking care of their mom. The family would also like to thank Dr. Gabriela Goloman and Dr. Paula Aucoin for the exceptional level of care they provided to Mrs. Dunn.
