Marjorie Wheat Obituary
Marjorie H. Wheat

1923 - 2015 PITTSFIELD On the morning of July 18, 2015, the sweet and gentle soul of Marjorie Helen Wheat, formerly of 47 Wellington Avenue, passed from this world while being held closely by her four sons, James of Hopkinton, NH, John of Sun City, AZ, and Robert and William, both of Pittsfield. Marjorie was 92, having been born April 26, 1923, in Pittsfield, the seventh child of Edward and Sophia Maloy. She was married for 65 years to Clayton A. Wheat and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church while she lived in Pittsfield. Marjorie was a 1941 graduate of St. Joseph's High School and, like many women of her era, never had the opportunity to further her education. While Clayton was away serving in the Army Air Corps in World War II, Marjorie worked at the General Electric plant in Pittsfield. While raising her sons during their school years, she worked as a counter clerk at Stetson Cleaners. In later years she was employed by the Berkshire Medical Center. Her life was her family. She was every thing to everybody and took little for herself. In addition to her sons she leaves seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren who loved her dearly and a sister-in-law, Greta Madden, of Pittsfield. All who knew Marjorie, loved her.
