Mark A. Amuso, Sr.

1927 - 2016 PITTSFIELD Mr. Mark A. Amuso Sr., 88, formerly of Crown Street, died Wednesday morning, January 20, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on August 18, 1927, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marjorie Robertson Amuso. He attended Pittsfield Public Schools which he left before graduation to join the Navy. He proudly received his high school diploma in 2006. Mr. Amuso was a US Navy Veteran of both WWII in the Pacific Theater and the Korean War. He was a longtime firefighter with the Pittsfield Fire Department, retiring as Lieutenant. Mark also worked as an Orthopedic Technician for Berkshire Medical Center for many years and also at the former Lacy ambulance service. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church. He is predeceased by his wife, the former Margaret M. Holmes, whom he married October 18, 1952 in St. Charles Church. He is survived by a son, Mark A. Amuso Jr. (Kathleen) of Pittsfield; three daughters, Deborah Rathbun (James) of Lanesborough, Peggy Pero (Stu) of Westfield, Michele Barnard (Matthew) of Housatonic; four brothers, Joseph Amuso, David Amuso, Merton Amuso, and John Amuso, all of Pittsfield; two sisters, Diana Cormier and Theresa Layden, both of Pittsfield; his loving grandchildren, Patrick, Lorraine, Rebecca, Richard, Mark, Erin, Tony, Justin, Trevor and Matthew and six great-grand-children. He was predeceased by his brother, James and a great-grandson. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. Mark A. Amuso, Sr., will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 8a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Charles Church at 9a.m. celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, Pastor. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, January 22, 2016 from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Medical Center in care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 and will be donated to the ICU and Emergency Departments.
